WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESENTS AN AMERICAN IDOL CONCERT CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF MOTOWN ON OCTOBER 2

Westchester Community College presents Celebrate Motown! featuring American Idol stars on Saturday, October 2, at 8:00 p.m. in the Academic Arts Theatre on the Valhalla campus.

Just in time for Motown's 50th anniversary, four former American Idol contestants are joining together for a fun-filled night of musical tributes. A surprising combination of Idol finalists will take to the stage for an exciting night of solo, duet, and ensemble performances. The Idol celebrities include Anwar Robinson, Gina Glocksen, Michael Sarver and Vonzell Solomon.

This new production, under the musical direction of American Idol's own Michael Orland, is a great way to see and hear the brightest Idol stars up close and personal in an intimate theatrical setting. Audiences can relive their favorite Idol moments as these talented young artists perform Motown’s biggest hits from the Supremes, Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder… just to name a few. They will also perform selections from current CDs from the Idol stars.

Sarver, originally an oil rig worker, is now one of country music’s most talented performers. Robinson’s most recent achievements were his three singles released in 2009: Night’s Hot, Exceptional, and his powerful self-composed original piece, Chosen, written to honor those who battle breast cancer. Glocksen, often referred to as the “rocker chick,” possesses musical influences and abilities ranging far beyond the realm of rock. Solomon is best remembered for her powerful performances; that earned her Simon Cowell’s admiration.

Tickets are $28 (general admission), $24 (students/seniors), $20 (children under 13). Reserved seating only. For tickets and information, call the Office of Cultural Affairs at 914-606-6262 .
