WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESENTS ENSEMBLE ESPANOL SPANISH DANCE THEATER ON OCTOBER 23

Westchester Community College presents Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater on Saturday, October 23, at 8:00 pm in the Academic Arts Theatre in Valhalla.

Founded in 1976, this troupe features performers who present the music, songs, and dances of Spain via a variety of innovative ballets, traditional folkloric suites, and fiery Flamenco dramas dating from the Medieval era to 21st Century Spain. The rich traditions of the Ibero-Hispanic experience reflect a magnificent mosaic of world cultures. The company, with its artistic director Dame Libby Komaiko, explores the artistic creativity of three dance styles: classical, folkloric and flamenco. This dazzling ensemble is composed of dancers accompanied by singers and instrumentalists.

Beautifully structured choreography evokes the great range of music and dance (both folk-rooted and flamenco) that has emerged from Spain’s many different geographical regions. From the royal court to the gypsies, the country has always had an extraordinary appreciation for the discipline and allure of art. This ensemble carries an extraordinary repertoire of over 120 works from Spain.

Tickets are $20 (general admission) , $18 (students/seniors), $13 (children under 13). For tickets and information about these performances or the college’s many other exciting cultural events, call the Office of Cultural Affairs at 914-606-6262.
