Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarship for Continuing Honors Students

Each April, students enrolled in the Honors Program who plan to continue their studies at the college the following year may apply for the Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarship for Continuing Honors Students.  It is a merit-based scholarship with a long association with the Honors Program, and is highly coveted by Honors students. Approximately 15-20 students become Abeles Honors Scholars each year.

Specific types of Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarship for Continuing Honors Students depend on a student's full- or part-time status and the number of Honors courses completed:

Type A: $3,000

• Full-time Honors students
• Completion of 2 Honors courses by May
• Commitment to take 2 more Honors courses during the year covered by the scholarship

Type B: $2,500

• Full-time Honors students
• Completion of 1 Honors course by May
• Commitment to take 2 more Honors courses during the year covered by the scholarship

Type C: $1,250

• Part-time Honors students
• Completion of 2 Honors courses by May
• Commitment to take 2 more Honors courses during the year covered by the scholarship

Application Guidelines

Scholarship Application Packet
The application packet must include a completed application form and a Personal Profile essay (for guidelines, see the last page of the application form). Other pertinent material (optional) may be attached.

References
Two letters of recommendation from Westchester Community College professors (at least one of them Honors) are required. The letters should be addressed to the Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarship Committee, and they must be sent by the instructors directly to the Honors Program Co-Directors by April 15.
