Extension Center Frequently Asked Questions

What are Extension Centers?
Extension Centers are local public facilities and buildings where Westchester Community College offers coursework in your community. Many of the same college credit courses that are held on the main campus are offered at these centers. Non-credit, continuing education and ESL courses are also offered at some of the centers.

Why should I take classes at an Extension Center?

  • The classes offered at these facilities may meet closer to your home or
    place of work.

  • It could reduce your travel time.

  • Extension classes begin one week after the main campus classes begin so you have some additional flexibility.

When should I take the placement exam?
It is recommended that you take it as soon as possible.

Can I take the placement exam at the Extension Centers?
The placement exam is offered at the Mt. Vernon, Ossining, Peekskill and Yonkers Cross County centers, please check the Placement Exam Schedule for dates and times.
