Westchester Community College designed the Gateway Center as an innovative endeavor to address the emerging trends that challenge our future.
This new building is opening in the fall of 2010. Classes in the
building will begin on September 7; there will be a ribbon cutting
event, open to the public, at 11:00 a.m. on September 15. For
opening event information, email
info@sunywcc.edu.
In this new 70,000 square foot building,, the Gateway Center will house the college’s Business Programs , Professional Development Center (which provides workforce training to local companies and their employees), Modern Language Programs, International Student Services, English Language Institute (the county’s largest English as a Second Language educational resource), and the
Volunteer Center.
Instructional space, offices, and technology labs will stimulate multidisciplinary synergy. With a Welcome Center, café, auditorium and conference rooms, the Gateway Center will be a magnet for education, collaboration and exchange.
The Gateway Center will create dynamic opportunities by teaching students essential academic, business and technology skills. A key component of the Gateway Center will be programs for new Americans. In Westchester County today, 22 out of every 100 people were born outside the United States, and the number will continue to grow.
Programs in language and cultural exchange, infused with rich academic studies, will enable new Americans to advance in meaningful careers and fully join the community. Scholarships will ensure access to education for deserving students.
Gateway promises to shape a strong future through practical, effective programs that will bring the world to Westchester for education.
